Social Media & Content Creation for State Theater

In November of 2019, Kingsport native and The Body Shop owner, Mark Hunt purchased the State Theater with plans to restore the venue into an entertainment spot for the whole community. After Covid temporarily halted progress, the project picked back up in 2022 and Intellithought was approached about helping promote the restoration project.

In addition to creating a logo and website, Intellithought also created social media profiles and continues to create social media content to keep the community’s interest and provide updates on the restoration progress and targeted opening date.

Google My Business

One of the first steps we took as part of this initiative was helping State Theater claim ownership of its Business Listing on Google. Google My Business is a tool that allows organizations to maintain their hours of operation and other details on the Google search results page, making it easier for consumers to find what they’re looking for. Additionally, Google has stated that actively managing and posting to your listing gives your website an SEO boost.

We continue to manage State Theater’s Google Listing, maintaining updates on their restoration progress.

Content Calendar

Every month, we develop content for a content calendar to map out the post schedule for State Theater’s Facebook, Twitter/X, and Instagram profiles. From there, we also take care of making sure everything actually gets posted. Content consists of archived photos, media updates, original graphics and videos, downtown Kingsport business/organization highlights, and more. We vary content across platforms, because each caters to a different audience, and we tailor content to complement the season, month, and holidays.

Facebook

We launched State Theater’s Facebook page in September 2022, and we continue to update the page multiple times a week. The page has accumulated 288 followers and 184 page likes in less than a year.

Twitter / X

State Theater’s Twitter / X page was launched around the same time as the Facebook page and contains historic photos, films that were shown at the original theater, and restoration progress photos.

Instagram

After successfully building a community on Facebook and Twitter, we decided to pursue another social outlet. Following detailed analysis, we determined that Instagram was the appropriate next step to take. We created State Theater’s Instagram profile and it has become the theater’s most popular social media platform amassing over 400 followers since.
