Matthew W. Cleek

COO/Vice President

Matthew has a background ranging from hard labor to executive management.  His career has given him the opportunity to work with many industries including construction, chemical, coal, power, manufacturing, radio and more.  Each new initiative has required strong leadership, creative thinking and innovative problem solving; attributes which characterize Matthew.

Today, Matthew works with both Intellithought and Tele-Optics, a sister company providing complementary skills and services.  His responsibilities include all technical services provided to Eastman Chemical, an international Fortune 500 company.  Matthew seeks to lead in a way that produces maximum efficiency and unprecedented quality within the teams of professionals working with him.  The level of excellence achieved and sustained by these teams has generated a great deal of recognition in the region including several Supplier Excellence Awards



 

Matt Lay

CIO/Vice President

Matt’s focus on customer service has lead him to become one of Intellithought’s most successful customer relationship managers. Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering on promises have been the foundation of his career. Matt joined Tele-Optics in 1998 as an Applications Tester. Working his way up to Project Manager, Matt proved his leadership skills as well as his ability to work within a team environment. The importance of teamwork is something he continues to stress to the members of the Network Services department.

In addition to managing the Network Services group, Matt’s current duties include leading Intellithought’s Sales and Marketing activities. Although his concentration is mainly the natural resources industry, Matt is comfortable working with both small businesses and Fortune 500 companies.

 

Brenda Nichols

Director, Human Resources

Brenda has been a part of the Intellithought team since its inception in 2000. She helped establish the Human Resources Department for the newly-organized company as well as the policies and procedures for HR activities. She has been a member of the Northeast Tennessee Society for Human Resource Management since 2001. In December of 2002, she obtained the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from the HR Certification Institute.

Prior to joining Intellithought, Brenda was manager of the Records Department at the Kingsport and Gate City branches of Olsten Health Services. It was during this time that she developed an interest in Human Resource management. When presented with the chance to become a part of the start-up company at Intellithought, she took advantage of the opportunity for a career change.

Outside Intellithought, Brenda enjoys scrapbooking and traveling with her family. Originally from Rose Hill, Virginia, she now lives in Hiltons. She is married and has three children.


 

Tammy Salyers

Manager of Finance

Tammy began working with Tele-Optics in December of 1998 in preparation for Intellithought’s startup. Since Intellithought’s inception in 1999, Tammy has served in several positions such as Payroll Clerk, Accounting Clerk, and Office Manager. She is currently the Finance Manager, a role she has filled for three years. She was instrumental in setting up all facets of the business in 1999, including the 401K Plan, medical benefit packages, commercial insurances, Payroll, the accounting system, and business processes. She continues to serve the company by managing the financial aspects of the business today.

Prior to Intellithought, Tammy was an Account Manager with Quebecor Printing for 18 years.

Outside of Intellithought, Tammy continues her education in the Accounting field by attending night classes at Northeast State Technical Institute. She and her husband reside in Kingsport where they are raising their middle school-aged daughter.
